yesterday I was talking to an SEO expert and we have mutually arrived at the same conclusion about this whole internet marketing thing.

If you pay closer attention to what is happening and take a look on a little bigger scale of what is happening, you will clearly notice the never forgotten -get-rich-quick phenomenon in massive action. Online it translates into -get traffic or get rankings tomorrow dream. Everything starting from social media, search engine optimization, adwords, video marketing, blog marketing, social bookmarking is promising yet the same old get traffic tomorrow thing, get millions of clicks by the end of the day, in 4 hours, etc.

people buy it too. who wouldnt want that. Some people even create videos to show how “well” their clients did first week to jump on first page of google and (after I checked later) site dropped to page two and after I followed up with the “guru” by email – I havent received a reply.

This is just one example of what is going on every day out there.

The biggest realization for me on a much deeper level is a awareness of what internet marketing is. If you listen closely to the veterans, like Dan Kennedy, Ron Legrand, Jim Fleck – people who have been around the block several times, some of them build empires without even having or using email by choice. You will find an interesting correlation, in their opinions.

internet is just a medium. It is one way of reaching out to your clients and thats it. There are many other way, better or worse who knows. But there are. some cost money some don’t, but internet seems to have this aura of being free advertising and everyone has fallen for it. Of course it is free, if you don’t count the amount of time you spend on it. Or the attention you put to it. Or the things you have to do, redo, add, modify, fix, when things are not working. Thats just reality.

and yet another even deeper thing that bothers me more is – a bubble that we’re creating. A bubble of this cheap, plagiarized, quote driven, attention seeking, fluff-type information.

how else are you going to explain article-spinning. When you write an article with the intent of creating more traffic and not for the purpose of creating important content that someone will truly benefit from. And you “spin” it- create another 50 different versions of the same fluff- style article, just so you get 50 more links and “trick” google so it doesn’t see it as duplicate content. What are you creating on the internet? Think about it?

And you are not alone. we all do it. What are we creating? Im dying to find out. how about you?

Just Finished reading “Donald Trump’s – Think Big” – a fast and amazing , trump-style, read. Wanna talk a no B.S. guy -its definitely Donald Trump. No wonder people respect him because he doesnt take any bullshit from anyone.

The biggest thing I learned from the book, is to get even with people who do wrong to you. In life, in business there will always be people who do wrong to you, use, take advantage or mistreat you for their own benefit or just because they feel like it.

It is different from when you negotiate something and after you agree to it you realize you have gotten a bad end of the stick. That’s merely a fault of the lack of your expertise and preparation.

He talks about how people bad mouth you to get publicity or after you treat them right they turn around and make your life miserable, only because they see opportunity in doing so.

Trump Suggests you go after them with full force. Hire best, nastiest, meanest lawyers. talk bad stuff about them, hit them right back between their eyes. in other words stand up for yourself. because if you dont, the world will see you as a schmuck and no one will respect you.

I thought that was great advice! it takes guts, but I can see this paying off. For if you adopt this kind of attitude, next time people who want to do wrong will think twice about doing it. they will know you will come after them with all guns blazing.

Trump is a master at thinking big. Not being afraid and thinking positively. He’s a master developer and real estate guy, who believes many things are possible inspite of everybody around him saying it is not. Great mentor. I recommend reading all his books!

Thinking big at first can be intimidating. You will find your mind so small and fearful, you wont be able to think further than the limits of your apartment complex, or even your room. Thinking big is huge, it takes some practice, because it is the unknown. With thinking youre gonna be next macdonalds or next Dell, you get a gust of powerful excuses why you couldnt do it and what great responsibility it would require for you to be doing that. You will think you couldnt do it. Thinking big takes guts. Thinking big takes courage and such strength to face literally “whatever”. Because you since you havent done any of that, its all new turf for you. Its all the unknown. its all getting out of your comfort zone. its mind boggling.

You must train your mind gradually, you must read and expand your mind to new possibilities, you must go out and do new bigger things gradually, only then you might have a chance…

Now Will Ya?

Accepting full responsibility for yourself, your actions, your beliefs, your emotions, your thoughts is by far the most important benefit you can do to yourself and probably others too.

This has been pounded by everyone, from anyone to everyone alive who’s got it and teaches others how to be successful.

how is it that something this obvious, has to be repeated so many times? If you ask anyone around, they would probably answer immediately, they understand importance of responsibility and know it to be right, but not to many people do it.

The reason is – lack of awareness.

we all grew up, being cared for, more or less by our mothers, nannies, strangers or whoever it was. Otherwise a baby would not survive long. It always needs something. so it happens some of us, due to million different reasons, tend to carry this into adulthood and some way far beyond. Usually without ever realizing it, not even when its pointed out.

It is easy to blame it on someone or something. It is easy to turn away. It is easy to drop and quit doing it. And then sit, whine and complain or create excuses. These things are easy. But we don’t live in the easy world. We never did. It was never easy. For no one. Even for people who lived million years ago. You still had to go hunt and bring food. You had to create strategy, build weapons, protect yourself and find shelter. It wasn’t easy in the middle ages, in the midst of wars, monarchies and slavery ages. It is not easy because life is constant stream of growth and progress. It is an endless strive for better place under the sun, which calls for the best in us.

For those who understand it, it becomes a way of life. It becomes a game of excellence. Where there are no rules and you can only count on your own skills and abilities. and before you do that it will be hard.

Next time, when something goes negative or wrong, ask yourself. What did I do to create this? What could I have done differently. What If I said it differently. What can I learn from this?

and let it go. its not a big deal. After all you’re still ok. Smile

Ever heard a story of the guy or a girl, say: I lost weight and then I gained it right back within weeks.

yes, its quite common. In fact it happens every day. People lose and gain weight, most of them dont even know why. They go from one diet to the other, buying next advice right after previous didn’t work. Searching for the best diet there is. Searching for the answer.

Well the answer is pretty simple.

Keep searching. Those who seek shall find. And you will. The main thing is not to stop. When you keep on searching, you learn new things and get answers to your questions. those answers then open up new ground for you to raise different more profound questions, which keeps you searching even more. So please continue doing it!

Now, I believe were getting over the threshold where people already know that there is no best or worst diet on the planet or in the universe. All diets are great and all diets work. If you work them.

Most people however are in the instant gratification mode and expect things to change immediately, without realizing it took them 20, 30 or for some even 40 years to get to the point where they are at now and they expect to change their behavior, habits and metabolism system virtually overnight, as they finish munching on a last crumb of Cheetos while watching late night TV infomercial.

It ain’t that easy.

The reason being is: homeostasis.

Its a fancy, technical term meaning “balance”. Homeostasis is what universe is based on, it finds balance between things, it makes things neutral, peaceful and somewhat constant.

here is an image that best describes homeostasis:

Homeostasis

Basis premise is. You and your body, (naturally) does everything to stay in the state of comfortable balance which is the middle line. And as soon as conditions change, for instance you get cold, your body starts to shiver to make you warmer, so it brings your temperature up. If youre hot, your body starts to sweat and makes your body temperature go down a notch so you feel colder.

Same thing with everything. Your Subconscious mind has a setting virtually for everything in life, money, social skills, your attitude to health, your body weight, etc.

if you go into extremes one way or another, homeostasis will immediately force you to bring it back to normal. And that is why diets and for the same matter other habit changing attempts usually don’t work. or they rather work for a while and then person usually finds themselves in the same spot where they started.

so what is the solution you say? Well solution is changing your subconscious programming first. Until you do that, other things are not so important. You either must become a fanatic of sports, which means you exercise every day and those people who do, they get results. Behaving like this, they also change their subconscious mind and their habits become naturally wanting exercise and healthy living.

Other thing you can do. is start with the visualizations. Sit down, relax, close your eyes and imagine yourself working out every day. Imagine yourself, being in good health, good perfect body shape. Reinforce that with actual images of other nice, fit looking people from magazines or modified(photoshoped) images of yourself on someonelse’s body. do it daily. do it now.

At first it will be difficult to visualize, your mind will tell you its not reality, why even bother thinking about it. But do it anyway. don’t listen to your mind. Your mind(in this case) works against you. Your subconscious controls your mind. Be aware of that and still persist on imagining yourself doing the thing.

Then You can slowly start doing it. Start exercising. Just few minutes a day at first. then increase, then increase more.

Read literature on the subject. Reinforce your mind with new provoking thoughts, ideas and new beliefs about diets.

Good book to read is : Primal BluePrint by Mark Sisson.

it is a book I am going to talk about a lot. Its take on health, fitness and lifestyle is very important, I suggest everyone reads it.

One of the most important things you will ever realize in marketing, in fact is, quite a paradox. Common sense advertising you see everyday on TV and 99% around you is not what advertising really is.

Main stream advertising(flashy commercial on TV, radio, magazines, print, signs and other brand building stuff). It’s goal (supposedly) is to reinforce the image of company or some product through repetition, which (also supposedly) will “program” you into unconsciously choosing the advertised product or company versus all the other competition. And it works. But it costs lots of money and (if you’re reading this) you probably can not afford it.

On the bigger scale this type of advertising is based on belief, that if I put something out there people will definitely notice it and they will come right to it. Similar like bugs fly toward the shining lamp when its dark outside. So that is also true, or perhaps was true, hundred years ago. When there was no automobiles and Henry Ford created one. He put it out and due to absence of competition, it was obvious that his advertising worked and attracted people from all over the place. But, in today’s day and age it is no longer an option.

You put out your sign out anywhere, three of your competitors do too and where does the person go? what is going to be the determining factor? the ad? the colors? the message?

Well, answer is simple. It doesn’t matter. Yes. It absolutely doesn’t matter.

why is that you say?

Because, if you understand what marketing really is. You would be making a mistake by putting out a sing anywhere, In fact, You wouldn’t even think of putting out a sign and hoping people will notice it and come to you.

Real marketing is totally opposite from this. Real marketing is about being in control and instead of taking random action and passively waiting for results.

Real marketing is about seeking out what you want, right type of customer you want to work with. Instead of being on the receiving end and trying to please everyone and everybody, even people that you don’t want to work with. In fact, being everything to everybody is the biggest mistake in marketing you can make.

Most common analogies to depict this are: fishing – and Im not a fisher, but I know if you want to catch certain kind of fish, you must have certain kind of bait , certain kind of hook, poll, line and you must probably go to certain kind of water, whether its a lake, a sea, an ocean, a river, etc. Different fish lives in different waters.

In business, it is very difficult thing to grasp. It takes time and constantly pounding your brain with the “right” information. although for some people it seems to come naturally. But for most it’s not. It wasn’t for me, but after two years of reading and studying Dan Kennedy I have finally realized and experienced an A-ha moment with this. Hence I am writing this post for you.

This means that you have to become picky. You must decide what you want. You must describe, define, sort out, what your ideal customer is. You must use any of the imaginable criteria. It usually comes through experience and some basic awareness.

Biggest fear that stops people from doing this is fear of not having any business. the very thought of turning some customer down is terrifying and doesn’t really make sense. For, why would you turn someone down if they want to give you money?

The answer is simple. Because their presence, their demands and the things you have to do to make them happy, overshadows the actual benefit of you receiving money from them. In other words, say you have customer A, who you spend an hour with and he pays you $500, thanks you and leaves. And you have customer B, who you spend 2 hours with doing same service, who doesnt have full payment, complains because he has unrealistic expectations, calls you two more times, because he thinks he bought a different product and you get $700 from him.

Which group of customers would you choose to work with? Would you rather have extra headaches and babysitting and get extra $200 or would you rather get it done and have $200 less?

Smart marketers would have the latter. Because marketing is about boundaries. Marketing is about you choosing a specific market you want to work with, creating product or service, creating a set of rules you going to work by and then going out and proactively FINDING the Ideal customers you want to work with to present them with your advertising (just like dropping a line with the right bait in front of certain fish).

Only when you make this mental shift, you can set yourself free and start attracting customers you want to work with and transform your business to bring you profits.

This is what direct response is. Stop being blinded by whats going on around you. Think. Measure results. Track. Adapt. See what works, use it.
